Changes are afoot, and ahead, and I hope I can stomach them.
So far, so good. Thursday the 5th I moved into my new apartment. It's a supportive housing sort of arrangement for Military Veterans.
They have rules. No booze, no drugs, no prostitutes (damn), and no visitors after 10pm.
And I was really looking forward to the prostitutes.
That was sarcasm. I'm not really into prostitutes.
But prostitutes is a pretty fun word to say, for as much of a repulsive concept it is to imagine.
The setup is like a two-bedroom apartment that I share with another vet. My roommate doesn't spend that much time hanging out, though, so it looks like I'll have it mainly to myself, with a 42inch TV and DVD player. A-thanku.
There is no internet access in the rooms. To go online I have to come down to the dayroom and use the PC's they've got there set up for job searches. So I need to be carefull about how much time I spend goofing off on the social webs. Of course, I could probably get an exception for thereaputic purposes, because I would literally go crazy without all of my internet friends to talk to.
We're talkin straight bonkers.
But, on the positive tip, that means I'll be spending less time goofing off on the social webs, instead of writing. So I should be able to get the novel finished right quick.
That's really all I got for today. If you could afford it, buying a book would be immensely helpful, as I'm still looking for paying work in the area, and need to pay the lawyer.
Only got another $1200 to go to ensure my continuing freedom. Woot!
If you're holding out for the next book, it's coming soon. I decided I'd spend a little more time editing and adding. The short story collection is currently around 110 pages, but I've got some new stuff to add, and getting the formating straight for everything will mess with the pages. I'm shooting for around 200.
If this excites you, please motivate with a comment or a ping on the twitter.
Keep passing the open windows, friends.

Such distraction free environment would be a bliss, really. I mean, one can just pick up a pen and paper and start writing. Computers have taken away the fun from writing, though they have made it easy. But there is some magic in writing on paper.
Looking forward to the short story collection :) I liked your mermaid series of excerpts that you posted. Good stuff :)
Keep writing!

hey nothingman,
I've still got the computer, just no internet in the room. Have to go across the street mon, tues, thurs, fri for access, and they don't allow the full range of activities a man such as myself is used to, lol. So, yeah, I have the quiet time, for two years, to get it done, so no more excuses not to produce a masterpiece.
May be tabling mermaid for a short time to get this other one that's bursting at the seams out, maybe not, still figuring it out.
The short stories should be first, and soon, though.
