The Story Of The Openly Racist City Councilman
Palm Bay Councilman Chandler Langevin Faces Backlash Over Racist Remarks and Extremist Rhetoric
Palm Bay, FL – City Councilman Chandler Langevin is once again at the center of controversy after a series of inflammatory comments, public events, and social media posts have drawn widespread condemnation from residents, local organizations, and city leaders.
March for Charlie Kirk
Following the tragic shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, Langevin organized a “March for Charlie Kirk and All Victims of Left-Wing Evil” in Palm Bay. The flyer encouraged participants to carry signs bearing the names or photos of individuals allegedly killed by “Democrat policies.” Attendees were also urged to bring Christian and patriotic flags.
Critics argue that Langevin is exploiting tragedy to promote political division, rather than unity or healing.
Antifa Flyer Promoting Trespassing
Langevin later circulated a flyer online warning gun shop and shooting range owners to report and trespass individuals associated with anti-fascist or racial justice groups “under no pretext.” Civil liberties advocates say this rhetoric encourages unlawful discrimination and vigilantism, undermining constitutional rights while cynically using “freedom” as cover for power-grabbing
.
Racist Remarks About Indian Americans
Most recently, Langevin has sparked outrage for statements directed at Indian Americans, claiming they “exploit us financially” and “don’t care about the United States.” The backlash was swift. Palm Bay Mayor Rob Medina, joined by Deputy Mayor Mike Jaffe and Councilman Kenny Johnson, released a powerful open letter reaffirming Palm Bay’s commitment to diversity and unity.
The Indian Association of the Space Coast has since launched a petition calling for accountability. The petition reads in part:
“As Indian American citizens, we feel humiliated, disrespected, and disappointed by our own city official—Councilman Chandler Langevin of Palm Bay, Florida… Disparaging any ethnic group violates foundational morals and harms community integration.”

Doubling Down Instead of Apologizing
Rather than retracting his remarks, Langevin doubled down in a Facebook post, writing:
“Diversity is not our strength… Today Dallas and other cities in the South are unrecognizable due to mass Indian migration… I will raise my children in a country that an American would recognize.”
His refusal to apologize has only deepened divisions within Palm Bay.

Special City Council Meeting
In response, Mayor Medina has scheduled a special Palm Bay City Council meeting for Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The agenda lists a single item: “Discussion of conduct and decorum of City Council.”
Langevin, however, continues to dismiss calls for unity. In a recent post, he wrote:
“Leftists are evil. There is no unity with evil.”
