Why I Respond to Political Posts Online

We live in a time when most people have been cut off from the institutions that once helped us make sense of the world: unions, local papers, civic groups, and public education that actually taught critical thinking. In that vacuum, political messaging, especially the reactionary kind, becomes the main framework people use to interpret their own struggles.

It’s Not About Self-Expression

My goal isn’t self-expression. I write poetry and music for that. I don’t do it for money, my day job is more than adequate. It’s to help people understand the forces acting on their lives. Sometimes humor works. Sometimes clarity works. But the point is always to make it easier for people to recognize manipulation and think in material terms about the systems shaping their conditions, not just the feelings those systems produce.

Why So Much Anger Online?

A lot of people aren’t “naturally hostile.” They’re angry because life has gotten harder. Stagnant wages, rising costs, collapsing infrastructure, a sense of downward mobility.
That’s the emotional soil where reactionary narratives grow: stories that redirect legitimate frustration away from the systems causing it and toward scapegoats such as immigrants, “elites,” or liberals.

The Boomer Copypasta Propaganda Problem

One of the most common carriers of this messaging is the right-wing chain-rant, what I call “boomer copypasta propaganda.” It’s text designed to convert economic anxiety into resentment and obedience. It’s not harmless. It’s ideological work. It reframes exploitation as personal failure and teaches people to blame one another instead of the order that exploits them.

The Media Vacuum

Most mainstream news doesn’t help. It’s oversimplified, just enough to follow the story but not enough to see the structure underneath. Who benefits? Who pays? Who decides?
Without tools for critical analysis, people absorb ideology passively. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s a lack of access to frameworks that connect personal experience to systemic reality.

And no, yelling at your relatives in the comments won’t fix that. I’ve tried.

The Real Question

So the question becomes:
How do we help people see the forces shaping their lives without shaming them or treating them like they’re defective?

Using AI as a Rhetorical Tool

I’m mostly self-taught: a few years of business college, some honors classes, and a lot of reading. I never studied logic or rhetoric formally. That’s why I started using AI tools, not as “truth machines,” but as analytical aids to me spot the fallacies and rhetorical manipulation built into these sorts of share bait posts, and help me build a vocabulary for discussing these tools and tactics intelligently.

I built a custom GPT that breaks down arguments for factual grounding, logical coherence, and ideological framing. When I feed it these chain-rants, it maps out what they’re doing, the emotional levers, the contradictions, which scapegoat they are offering as a target for the mob.

Reframing, Not Preaching

Once I understand the mechanics, I have it rewrite the message. Same structure, same rhythm, but without the bias and dishonesty, and encouraging reason and cooperation instead of appealing to emotions and conflict.

For some strange reason when I do this I wind up agreeing with the message, who’d have thunk it.

Then I post that version as a reply to the original, then share it on my own feed with a picture of a flag and an eagle or a solider or something, I dunno.

Culture-Jamming for the Working Class

This is a small act of culture-jamming: taking ideological tools meant to divide the working class and retooling them to highlight common struggle.

This is just one tool in the box to help move the needle. It won’t solve everything. But it helps.

And sometimes, in the middle of all that noise, it opens up a crack, a small space where genuine political understanding can begin to grow.

If everyone of my fellow travellers and comrades in the comments were to take this approach to dealing with the plague of boomer copypast propaganda, and what’s more, sharing the clean versions when you see them, we may well be able to make a small dent in the steamroller of ignorance flattening public discourse into a bumper sticker.

I don’t give a Rats ass, who this offends, but I stand by it. War is coming, sooner or later! You the Government... You are all a bunch of cowards! You raised the cost of living so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children (single parents stand no chance) . You took God out of schools. Parents were told ‘No you can’t discipline your kids’. Well, now most of those kids are rude, disrespectful, and out of control. You shall reap what you sow! We have taken a whole generation and turned them into selfish, entitled brats who have no respect for people, property or authority! Hence all the current anarchy !! You deem people with terminal illnesses and some with only a few months to live…fit for work!!! You allow our veterans of war to go homeless and hungry but give out millions to foreign aid!!! You save drug addicts over and over again but refuse to give free diabetic supplies to those who need them to stay alive. You bend over backwards to be politically correct, too scared to say enough is enough, in case you offend someone. You put the retirement age up so people must work until they drop. You take care of prisoners and give them everything under the sun (food, medical, education, representation, money, rehabilitation) which costs more than the annual income of many hard working people yet you cause the elderly, those that have paid their debt to society and their families, to go broke caring for them either at home or in a nursing home... THINGS NEED TO CHANGE!

Take a Gander at the ProperGanda

I know this will offend some people. I’m ok with that. I’m more worried about where our society is heading. 💬🔥

We’ve built a system where the cost of living is so high that most families need both parents working just to keep the lights on. Single parents are drowning. Meanwhile, kids are growing up with less time, less guidance, and more chaos. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💸

We’ve stripped schools of any shared values and made it nearly impossible for parents and teachers to enforce real discipline. Then we act surprised when a chunk of this generation struggles with respect—for people, property, or authority. 📚🚫

Our systems are so broken that seriously ill people get told they’re “fit for work,” while veterans who actually did the fighting end up homeless or waiting months for help… but there’s always money for foreign projects. 🏥🎖️🌍

We’ll revive overdose after overdose (because addiction is real and tragic), yet many people with diabetes and other chronic illnesses are rationing the supplies they need to stay alive because they can’t afford them. How does that make sense? 💊⚖️

We tell people to work longer and retire later, then let many of our elderly lose everything paying for basic care, while prison budgets keep rising and we pretend that’s “justice.” ⏰👵🏽🏠

This isn’t about left vs right. It’s about priorities.
If we keep ignoring this, we’re heading for serious social conflict – not because people “hate each other,” but because they’re tired, broke, and feel betrayed. ⚠️
